Pilgrimages ~ Rome

Rome

St Peter's (34K)

Rome is a noisy bustling metropolis with all the trappings of a modern capital, yet it is impossible to ignore the signs of its illustrious past through twenty centuries and more.

At the Vatican, the tomb of Our Lord's Apostle, St Peter, dates almost to the earliest days of the Church. Today's Pope and successor to St Peter, Benedict XVI, draws pilgrims from all over the world.

Rome abounds with ancient churches and classical monuments, not to mention the fine craftsmanship of the Renaissance times. The whole is an eclectic mix of old and new which delights at every turn.
