The Lourdes Region

The bridge at BetharramIt's not just about prayer - complementing the spiritual appeal of Lourdes is the beauty of the surrounding area. Lying in the south-west corner of France, the town enjoys a wonderful setting in the foothills of the Pyrenees - the mountains which form the frontier with Spain.

Our optional excursions can give you a taste of the local countryside. In Bartres you can experience wonderful scenery and clear mountain air. Alternatively, you can enjoy the lovely seaside resorts of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz on the Atlantic coast.

If you'd rather stay in Lourdes itself, there are plenty of ways to spend your time, these include: shops, golf course, a funicular railway on the Pic du Jer, the "little train", the local pool, the chateau, a tour of the City Poor, or simply relax at one of the cafe bars.
