Mancunia Tour 2010
Mancunia first operated to the Passion Play in 1970 and on five occasions since we have been privileged to take our clients to this marvellous experience. In 2010 we continue this tradition and we are delighted to offer various departures.
We are primarily offering departures from Manchester, Birmingham, and can accommodate Edinburgh and London groups if the flights coincide.
Day 1: Flights are arranged to Munich where you
will be met by the Mancunia Tour Leader and
transferred directly to Oberammergau - approx. 90
minutes transfer.
On arrival you will be taken to your
accommodation. As the village is small and some
4700 persons have to be accommodated, the
neighbouring hamlets are also utilised with free
transport between them. Dinner will be provided
where you are staying, with breakfast the following
morning. Your host will hand you the actual Play
ticket and a translation of the performance text.
Day 2: In the morning you will be free to enjoy a
leisurely stroll through the village, admire the many
beautifully frescoed houses, visit the Parish Church
of Sts Peter and Paul, the Oberammergau Museum,
the Pilatus House Exhibition or wander around the
shops displaying their famous wood-carvings.
Lunch will be served in Oberammergau followed by
the performance which starts at 2.30pm. There will
be a break between 5pm and 8pm when dinner will
be served. The Play continues from 8pm till
10.30pm. Return to your accommodation for
overnight stay.
Day 3: You will be served breakfast and then you
must vacate your rooms. You will be taken to a
central area where you will be met by your Tour
Leader. A coach will take you to the Benedictine
Monastery at Ettal for a brief visit then on to
Linderhof Palace, a gem created for King Ludwig II
of Bavaria in the late 19th century to resemble the
great Chateau of Versailles.
Continue on a scenic journey through the Alps, with
a suitable stop to purchase lunch. Arrival in the
resort of Seefeld in the Austrian Tyrol in time for
dinner.
Day 4 onwards: For the remainder of your holiday you will be based in Seefeld. Details may be found here.
