Rome the acknowledged heart of the Christian world, holds a fascination for people of all nations with its treasures of architecture and art and remains of the pagan an Christian eras. Our 2-centre pilgrimage combines the wonders of the “Eternal City” with a visit to Assisi.

Itinerary

Our itinerary consists of 5 nights in Rome with half board accommodation, the Holy Father’s general audience, a visit to St Peters Basilica, the greatest church in Christendom, with Michelangelo’s sculpture of the Pieta. Full-day sightseeing tour to the great Basilicas of St Mary Major, St John Lateran and St Pauls outside-the- wall: Tre Fontaine, - on the site of St Paul’s execution; the Scala Sancta; the Colosseum; the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Venezia - the geographical centre of the city.

Optional excursions include - The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel; A visit to one of the Catacombs - the ancient Christian burial-grounds. Optional evening visit to Piazza Navonna, which is famous for its street artists and lovely fountains.

2 nights half board accommodation in Assisi including visits to the Basilica at Santa Angeli, on the plain below Assisi; the Basilicas of St Francis and St Clare, containing the tombs of the two great saints. Optional visit to Saint Damiano, the church re-built by St Francis which later became the first convent of the Poor Clares.
